Abraham, Isaac and The Angel (detail)

Guido Nincheri, Montreal

1967

Nincheri's lyrical style is expressed in the naturalism of the Father and Son, and in the Italianate landscape. The threatened Isaac kneels on an altar of firewood, but the Angel stops the sacrifice just in time.

The three-dimensional quality of the Angel in flight is a fine example of Nincheri's Florentine skill.
