Crest of British Columbia (Variant)

N.T. Lyon, Toronto

1903

Lyon apparently took liberties with the B.C. Crest, in which the setting sun appears below the flag. The Crest did not become official for another fifty years.

The Union Jack was a part - or sometimes all - of Canada's flag until 1965, when the familiar red Maple Leaf design was introduced by Lester Pearson.
