Father Charles Maillard
1920s-30s
The wonderful murals by Father Maillard may be the single largest work of art in any Saskatchewan church. Maillard created an exceptional European interior in the middle of the Saskatchewan prairie.
In the hard times of the Depression, Maillard also created faux stained glass windows by painting his designs onto the glass.
His original designs seem to have been followed when Frederic Rault created authentic fired stained glass half a century later. The relatively light colouration of the windows allows enough daylight into the building to make the murals visible.
