Two Deer with Flowers After Matisse (detail)

Rault Freres (Brittany) France

circa 1960

The influence of the great Henri Matisse (1869-1954) can often be found in the Raults’ depiction of flowers and foliage, as in the delicate lines outlining these flower petals. A similar use of line can be seen in the Blessed Sacrament Church windows in Regina, elsewhere on this site.
