St. Andrew with Dalle de Verre Halo (detail)

Rault Brothers, Rennes, France

1954

Thick jewel-like chunks of dalle de verre were used to dramatize Andrew's halo, and also as symbolic red jewels extending over an inch from the surface of conventional stained glass.

The Rault brothers used dalle de verre with creative variations in many of their windows.
