John Henry Dearle for Morris & Company, England
1933
This lovely window by the renowned company founded by William Morris (1834-96) could have been adapted by Dearle (1860-1932) from a design by Sir Edward Burne-Jones (1833-98), one of the most famous of the English pre-Raphaelite artists. However, though less well-known than Burne-Jones, Dearle is now known to have created many excellent original designs.
Dearle carried Morris' legacy well into the 20th Century. Morris & Co. finally closed early in World War Two.
