Indian Runners: the Buffalo Hunt (after Remington)

Robert McCausland, Toronto

1907

This spectacular window is based on a painting by the American artist Frederic Remington (1861-1909.)

Removed from a Winnipeg mansion when it was demolished, the window is now at The Manitoba Museum.

Stained glass studios of the 19th and early 20th centuries frequently "borrowed" the design of a favourite painting by a famous artist at the request--or insistence--of a well-to-do client.
