Le Grand Derangement (detail)

Terry Smith-Lamothe, Halifax

1986

The artist depicts the poignant moment when the Acadian community of Grand-Pre is broken apart by the setting-off of the first Acadian families from Pointe Noire, on the shores of the Minas Basin. Cape Blomidon's brooding presence in the background helps to locate the scene.
