Rault Freres, Rennes, France
1957
Dalle de verre, 2cm (1 inch)thick, is 4 times heavier than ordinary stained glass. While other studios set dalle in a cement matrix, the Raults insisted on using standard lead cames, allowing the faceted edges to reveal their full depth, and to refract the maximum amount of light.
When backlit by sunlight the radiance of Rault dalle compositions is unmistakable.
