The Immaculate Conception of Mary

Andre and Paul Rault, Rennes, France

1951

The predominant colour of the Holy Rosary program is blue in many shades, subtly tinting the interior with a restrained elegance.

Of course the Rault brothers were familiar with the famous windows at Chartres, and like many glass makers, attempted to achieve the supposedly "lost" blues of the 13th century. The colour blue is universally associated with Mary.
