This scene depicts the appearance of Our Lady to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858, at Lourdes in southern France. The famous healing spring flows into the lower corner.
Sunlight projects an image of the decorative border onto the window sill; the gold dalle de verre squares refract small bursts of rays onto the surface at right.
