Design: Roman Kowal, Winnipeg; Execution: Rault, France
1970s
Kowal designed interiors for many Ukrainian churches, but had never designed stained glass. The church commissioned him to design contemporary interpretations. The Rault studio of France, which made at least fifteen installations in Regina, was asked to make the actual windows. The collaboration between Roman Kowal and Frederique Rault was carried on between Winnipeg and Rennes by mail. Kowal's small coloured drawings were then expanded to actual-size cartoons before the glass was made and assembled.
