Mary and Elizabeth (painted figures with dalle de verre crosses)

Frederic Rault, Rennes, France

1979

A depiction of the New Testament scene when the pregnant Mary visits her cousin, Elizabeth, who is also pregnant.

The Lafleche windows can be seen as an extension of the large installation begun in 1977 in the nearby Assumption Cathedral at Gravelbourg. Frederic Rault was in the process of assuming leadership of the Rault studio from his father Andre in the late 1970s. Ste Radegonde and Assumption Cathedral were his first Canadian commissions.
